My name is Gayle Fleming. I'm the owner and president of Fleming Design. I am a fourth-generation landscape designer with a BS degree in Landscape Design and Ornamental Horticulture from Purdue University and the University of Minnesota. I started working with my father and grandfather in my early teens learning the landscape business from the ground up (pun intended). During my youth I developed a life-long interest in Japanese Culture and have been growing Bonsai for 25 years. Over the last 30 years I have been tutored by two Minnesota Japanese Landscape Architects. One of my tutors urged me to study Chanoyu (Japanese Tea) as a way of better understanding Japanese Culture.
The culmination of this training has come in the form of amazing Minnesota Japanese Garden design.
These creations serve a sanctuary from the rigors of city life. I have helped convert residential and commercial spaces into works of art that follow advanced Japanese Garden Design.
From 1985 through 1992, I owned and operated Fleming Landscape, a contracting firm that specialized in building and maintaining Japanese, water and perennial gardens. My design experience includes both residential and commercial design and range from small entry garden to more extensive sites.
In 1999 Fleming Design was awarded a Merit Award for in recognition of our efforts in landscape excellence. We are Japanese Landscape.
